Educational Theatre

Chain Reaction have been developing entertaining, informative and memorable shows since 1994.

The power to transform lives.

Our powerful performances captivate our young audiences and provide understanding, knowledge and facts in a genuinely transformative way. They build empathy and compassion by helping young people to understand issues from other people’s perspectives.

Time and again, our experience has proven that through the engagement of emotion young people effectively digest and retain information.

Because every show was originally commissioned by local government or public health departments we’ve worked with experienced professionals in their field whilst developing each one.

Our Shows

We have a repertoire of outrageously entertaining original shows designed to address a specific issue for a specific age range. We use music, dance, comedy and believable plotlines interspersed with parodies of well known, larger-than-life characters, so our young audiences laugh whilst they learn – after all, if they have fun, they’re more likely to remember the messages.

If you’d like to discuss commissioning a new show to tackle a specific issue, please get in touch. Alternatively, click on the links below to find out more about our current repertoire.

Did you know?

Each show is performed by 4 or 5 of our professional actresses and can be performed in a 5m x 5m stage space, making them perfect for school halls and community venues.

We also offer a range of free and paid-for resources to extend the learning from each show into the classroom, including;

Free Teachers’ Resource Packs

Most of our shows include resource packs full of information, ideas, and lesson plans. These packs are designed to be used before and after Chain Reaction’s visit to help get your pupils interested in the topics and inspire further learning and discussion.

Free hot-seating sessions

Some shows include a 10 minute post-show hot-seating session, where audiences ask the characters from the show questions about their thoughts and actions. They’ve proven to be a great way to get young people really thinking about what they’ve seen.

Supporting workshops

We also offer fun, interactive issue-based workshops that use drama, role-play and games to encourage young people to think for themselves and to form their own opinions about the topic in question.

Why teachers love us…

Teachers constantly tell us how our streetwise and professional young actresses and facilitators help them to introduce some of the more ‘difficult to talk about’ issues to their classes.

Through the power of drama, challenging topics such as drugs, sex and managing emotions can be dealt with in a way that breaks down taboos and helps pupils overcome the giggles and embarrassment to have productive discussions about crucial topics.

And because all of our shows are designed in line with a range of educational curriculae and standards, you know that all our work will help to achieve your learning outcomes.
