Inspiring Change

Chain Reaction Youth Theatre brings together young people from some of the most disadvantaged communities to devise theatre performances which tackle current youth issues.

Aimed at 11–18 year olds, CRYT uses drama as an inspiring and engaging tool to educate and support vulnerable young people.

Each week, working alongside our specialist team of arts practitioners, young people explore current issues that they feel passionate about.

Building Confidence

The youth theatre focuses on increasing participants’ confidence, communication skills and community spirit. CRYT provides a safe, fun, friendly and positive environment where participants can learn new skills and get involved in a wide variety of creative activities.

Acting and performing provides a sound base from which to build self-confidence.  We use drama techniques such as role play, hot-seating and devising to engage participants before exploring a variety of performance styles such as physical and musical theatre, comedy and mask work.

Each session and its activities are planned in consultation with participants, so they have a genuine sense of ownership.

“This experience has boosted my confidence to the max. Plus I’ve met some amazing people.

The Youth Theatre has changed many childrens’/teenagers’ lives, including myself...THANK YOU!”

— Molly, participant, age 14
